Anybody use the Animas One Touch Ping system?
That’s the pump that I’m working on getting and was just curious as to real people’s opinions of it.
Before doing much research I thought I’d want the MiniMed pump mostly because I wanted to be set up for CGM if I could either afford it in the near future or my insurance started covering it. After researching those two (they were the ones my endo recommended) I found that as for the pump itself I think the Animas seemed to have better features (I especially like that it’s waterproof). As for the CGM, the woman I spoke with at the company told me that they have theirs in the works and are hoping to release it next year so there’s a good possibility that by the time I could afford it I’ll be able to get it with the Animas. And I’m sure that it’ll be out long before most insurances start covering it.
So…thoughts? Opinions? I’m also trying to decide which color to get. lol I like the green and the pink but it looks like the One Touch monitor only comes in silver and I’d kind of like them to match. I definitely don’t want black or blue. Oddly, blue was my favorite color for most of my childhood.

Hi! Just wanted to let you know that I enjoyed reading your blog, I saw your letter on the IP list. We have some similarities. I have had the Animas 2020 since January, and this week my new green PING arrived. But it is still in the box, I have not had the time to set it up (gee, if I did that instead of reading and writing emails, it would have been done already!). I plan to do it on Monday when I am home. My understanding is that the pump is the same as the 2020, just that you can bolus from the meter. I’m excited about that, I could wear a dress again! I’ll just leave the pump hanging from the front of my bra. Anyway, I look forward to reading more of your blog. Take care, Felice in Southern Oregon

I’m excited and scared! lol The man I’m in contact with from Animas told me he’d probably be calling me this week to set up shipment and whatnot but I ran into an issue and I didn’t get the two things I needed faxed in until…was it Tuesday or Wednesday? So I might’ve put things back a little. I’m going to try calling him Monday to see where things stand and how much longer I’ll have to wait. I’d love to be on it by Christmas but I’m not holding my breath because even when I get it I’m going to have to set up an appt. to be taught how to use it and find out what basal rate my endo wants me on, etc.
I’m still nervous about the whole cannula thing. I’ve heard there supposed to be really small. Anybody know about what gauge the insertion needle is? I use 31 gauge short syringes and am so afraid to even use a larger needle. lol
